The first Franconia trip of Harley Friends Forever was quite an experience for all of us.
That was because we had never met all together in this combination.
Rosi, Udo and Klaus came from Wiedenbrück,
Claudia and Didi came in from Kaufbeuren and
Trudi and Bernd from Klosterlechfeld.
On Sunday Gertrud and Jack joined us in from Bern in Switzerland.

Day 1, Friday 15 September, 06
Rosi, Klaus and Udo were unfortunately obliged (… due to technical reasons!) to arrive by car from Wiedenbrück, which did not spoil any of the fun.
Silvia and Frank arrived by the fastest possible means (their "scooters") from Heidelberg.
Now I would like to describe the trip from Kaufbeuren or Klosterlechfeld, respectively, to Röbersdorf:
Claudia (on a Virago) and Didi (on his new Dyna Street Bob) drove from Kaufbeuren to Klosterlechfeld, where they picked up Trudi (on Dyna Low Rider) and Bernd (on Hertiage Softail) and then started together in the direction towards Röbersdorf at 2:30 p.m.
Then, taking the B17 and the B2, given marvelous weather, they set off comfortably for Veilsbronn.
And "Bravo" to our "girls" Trudi and Claudia, who simply did a fantastic job of driving. Especially Claudia, who passed her trial of fire on the "scooter": She went solo for the first time - since getting her licence – all the way through the big city of Nürnberg – great job!
Then over small routes and open alleys and sleepy, forgotten Franconian villages all the way to Röbersdorf, after 229 klicks, we reached our goal, the "Wurm" restaurant at 6:30 p.m.
With hoots and cheers, we were welcomed by Rosi, Angy, Klaus, Udo and Peter, and we felt that everybody was happy to see us again.

Day 2 – Saturday Sep 16, 06
Through the Franconian "Schweiz" with "Beda" leading the way!
After a great breakfast altogether at the Wurm restaurant, we set out with seven big bikes for the Franconian Schweiz.
"Beda", our old Franconian, was a marvelous guide, and he was able to find only the most beautiful and dreamy little streets (… well, almost always!),
and so, under a wonderful September sky from Röbersdorf via Hirschaid – Altendorf – Butenheim – Drügendorf – Ebermannstadt – Streitberg – Muggendorf – Beringsmühle – Gößweinstein – Ebermannstadt – Wüstein – Siegritz – Heiligenstadt all the way to Aufsäß, where we finally gave our bikes a rest in order to enjoy a snack of Franconian Wurst at Kathys in Heckenhof.
It was a shame that only the people riding shotgun were able to sample that good beer!
Then, off we went towards Burggrug – Teuchatz – Frankendorf – Stackendorf – Dreuschendorf – Buttenheim – Altendorf – Hirschaid back to Röbersdorf, where we were able to greet Gertrud and Jock, our two Harley Friends from Switzerland who had just gotten in from Bern.
Then time to take a breather, get a room, and then to take off for Bamberg to Michels Berg.
Then the order of the day was simply to enjoy the sun, a view over Bamberg, get a cup of coffee and cake and some icecream.
In high spirits, we then set out for Röbersdorf again, got under the shower, and well, what happened next you can all read about in the report of the events!
But one thing is for sure – whoever loves nature, small villages and towns, and loves to bike to his hearts content, simply has to come again on his "scooter" into beautiful Franconia. |

Time to say good bay!!
Rosi, Klaus and Udo had to go back by car,
Gertrud and Jock went directissima to Lake Faaker in Austria.,
Trudi, Claudi, Didi and Bernd, enjoying splendid weather,
returned through Franconia and then through the Altmühltal Valley
back to Klosterlechfeld and Kaufbeuren.
From Röbersdorf over Höchstadt a.d. Aich, Neustadt a.d. Aisch, Marktbergel up to Ansbach.
Then over B13 to Altmühlsee. In Muhr am See we took a short break at "our" Greek restaurant and there we fortified our constitutions for the home stretchh with a lavish "Meeze".
Unfortunately, we had to decline the Uzo offered – many thanks – maybe the next time!
Then over Gunzenhausen and Treuchtlingen and over
"Hahnenkamm" and then through the Altmühltal Valley .
Via Papenheim, Solnhofen, Dollnsteig, Wellheim, Rennertshofen up to Neuburg a.d. Donau
and then to Ehekirchen, Pöttmes (nice little city)
Affing, Friedberg, Mering, Königsbrunn, Kleinaitingen up to
Klosterlechfeld.
A fantastic trip with great friends and magnificent weather, but as always, unfortunately, was over all too soon.
